Alhambra - the museum for humor and satire

Danish history told through humour and satire.

Alhambra, the museum for humor and satire, exhibits the humorous version of the history of the Danes from 1849. The exhibition tells the story of the political satire and freedom of speech, about the Danish theatre genre “revy”, the sketch shows and comedians, the famous theatres and the brightest stars in Denmark’s theater sky.

Alhambra focuses on humorous performance art in all its various forms, from the jester over the special Danish theatre genre “revy” to the modern stand-up comedian and tells the story of entertainment in Denmark through photographs, posters, costumes, videos and recordings. It is also possible for the visitor to try on and play with some original theatre costumes, wigs and makeup.

During the summertime visit the garden in front of the museum where there is Summerdance, concerts and performances. For more information see
