STORM – museum for humour and satire

Laugh and learn! At STORM, you’ll discover an entertaining and thought-provoking exploration of humour and satire, past and present.
Whether on stage, in print, on screen, or in everyday life, humour and satire have long played a central role in Danish identity and cultural history.
At STORM, you’re invited to step inside and experience engaging stories from Denmark’s rich comedic heritage. Encounter iconic Danish figures such as Storm P., Liva Weel, and Dirch Passer, alongside contemporaries like Roald Als, Casper Christensen, and Frederik Cilius.

Humour and Satire
Through a rich collection of drawings, photographs, iconic costumes, and props—alongside immersive listening stations and screens showing unforgettable clips from television and stage—Danish history comes to life on the museum’s ground floor, seen through the eyes of comedians and satirists.
Here, you’ll encounter the earliest revues that flourished following the introduction of freedom of the press and expression in the 1849 constitution and trace the evolution of satire all the way to today’s formats in radio, television, newspapers, and stand-up comedy.

The World of Storm P.
On the museum’s first floor, you can explore the imaginative universe of Storm P. and gain insight into how this multi-talented artist viewed Denmark and the wider world through his distinctive, humorous lens.
Discover his paintings, drawings, and recreated workspace, offering a vivid impression of his outlook on life—where entertainment meets sharp social commentary and reflections that remain strikingly relevant today.

Special Exhibitions
In addition to the permanent exhibitions, the ground floor also hosts rotating special exhibitions that explore both the playful and the profound sides of humor.
Until August 30, 2026, you can experience It Was a Different Time, an exhibition examining how humor over the past 125 years has shaped female roles and power structures in Danish performing arts. It invites you to reflect on what we find funny today—and how future generations may come to view our own time.
